FixMe Stick - Virus Removal Device
8:22 PM
The FixMe stick is great if you have malware that will not
let you run a removal program; It is a linux based bootable drive that is
separate from your PC and can remove enough of the malware threat for you to
get in and use your PC again. However it will not remove everything and you
will need to use your own, real time virus protection software once FixMe stick
has done it’s job in order to clean out any lingering files in your root
system. But FixMe stick is extremely user friendly, and as near idiot proof as
deep cleaning technology can get. It pops up with a helpful caped hero to guide
you through the process. I had an error the first couple of times that could be
a little scary to a novice. My screen glitched out and lined through, nothing
seemed to be happening for awhile, so I hard reset and restarted. Apparently
you are REQUIRED to update the stick before use, and I left my machine offline
during the initial test. The Cardboard instructions to not state to leave your
pc connected to the internet. Once I updated the stick though everything went
off without a hitch. Long story short It's a fantastic tool for those
emergencies where you cannot run a malware/antivirus removal program, but it
won't replace your regular antivirus.
Above: I hadn't been connected to the internet so the fix me stick had NOT UPDATED. Don't do what I did, be online before starting it. It looks scary, but it didn't cause any serious problems, just hard reboot your pc if this happens
Above: Manually restarted computer and had no errors, yay! It even automatically gave me an option of a step by step tutorial to fix the problem I had as soon as I rebooted.
