I used to stick my pillow case in the freezer but this is so much more brilliant. It is a thin gel filled pad that feels a little like an icepack. I put mine in the fridge for about 15 minutes before bed and it keeps my head nice and cool so I can fall asleep much easier. There is a nice pillowcase style cover for the pad to make it even more comfortable to lay on. It is large enough for a king size pillow (doesn't cover it but still is wide enough to cover most the head area.
